TRYING OUTSIDE THE LINES

An unwritten firework letting her colors burst

He Who Goes Before

The God of angel armies is always by my side.

I asked several people to pray for me over the past week. When I say asked several people, I mean posted a Facebook status that said “Prayers appreciated,” because what I’m going through I didn’t think I could explain well, or maybe even that it was worth letting anyone else in on. The illusion/delusion of terminal uniqueness, you know.

My tribe didn’t disappoint in letting me know of their support. I think one of my favorite things about loving people who love the God who also loves me is that they can ask with their whole heart for God to be whatever I need, and He already knows what that is and how to show up. Yes, life would be so much easier if we could be as open and shameless with each other in everyday life as we are at 12-step meetings, but it’s also wonderful to know that God understands all that isn’t explicitly said.

One of my favorite books growing up described the second heaven so well; the place where guardian angels walk above and watch over us, where they fight the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places for us. Ever on watch. I also remember a song that says “You can’t keep living on Granny’s angels; it’s about time you got one of your own.” As covered as I am by the prayers of others, I also need the one who has been chosen to fight for me.

This morning, I woke to a text from my Ma that said, “Pray you have a good night.” She knows I have been struggling with sleeplessness lately, one of many things.

When I read that, I pictured that every time I pray for someone else, or someone else for me, their angel teams up with mine, facing the enemy together, even though one is powerful enough on its own. And I am so grateful today to each of my tribe who has lent me their angel a bit this past week. Can you see it? Legions of angels in a row, wings linked together, telling hell’s minions ain’t no punk ass busta getting through this line today.

Love it – love the God of angel armies who is always by my side, and yours. Willing to send my angel to back up yours – just let me know.
